OUR PHILOSOPHY
The term sustainable means 'to be able to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs'. The present way of life of the 'developed', and much of the 'developing' world, is unsustainable, and major changes need to take place if we are to avoid unprecedented individual, social and ecological suffering. To make these changes, we believe there needs to be a major shift in perception towards a more holistic view of the world, in which we begin to recognise the interconnectedness and interdependence of all forms of life. Only by recognising this fact, by understanding that we cannot separate our own well-being from the well-being of others and the environment, can we begin to develop and evolve in harmony with one another and the natural world that we live in. Ananda is using this philosophy as a foundation upon which to create projects that contribute towards ecological restoration and sustainable development. A more detailed exploration of our philosophy of holistic development has been written by Ben... click on the model on the top left to read more.
